Is Bing+ChatGPT a threat to Google Search?
AI suddenly became so hot after ChatGPT was launched and Microsoft has openly shared its intention to integrate ChatGPT into its myriad products and services.
One of which is Bing search engine, if anyone is still using that.
Many investors have started to voice their concerns that Bing+ChatGPT could potentially challenge Google's dominance in search.
Let's do an interview with ChatGPT and see what it says.
The answers are really good and we agree generally. While Bing with ChatGPT can be a powerful combination, the biggest question is whether people will switch.
Users don't always choose the best product or service, they choose the strongest brand recall.
For example, Pepsi wins the taste over Coke in blind tests. But people would choose the less tasty Coke when they know the brands.
Likewise, Google Search has strong brand recall. It has even become a verb - we don't just say 'do a search' but 'google it'.
'Bing it' still sounds weird, though not impossible in the future.
Moreover Google Search can keep up with technology and improve its AI model.
As long as there isn't much pain in using Google Search and Bing+ChatGPT is not 10x better, Google Search is likely to retain its users (losing some market share is possible but not majority of it.)
Basically we are saying that it takes more than technology to win market share. Until then, we are in the Google Search camp.
